Compared to many other sports where specific and expensive equipment is needed, you require very little in order to play Ultimate. Basically, shorts and a t-shirt and either sneakers or moulded boots (we recommend footwear similar to that you would have for Touch Football or Soccer). Pretty much everyone who turns up to any Ultimate event has a disc they are happy to share, but you will probably want to buy your own. The urge to have a quick throw may grab you at any moment. ;)

The colours of UE are a Green shirt with Black shorts. Our away strip is a White shirt. (See Multimedia.)

Note: not all Discs are created equal! Flying discs are manufactured by a wide range of companies and they all have different profiles, weights, sizes and chemical compounds. All of these factors impact on the flight of the disc dramatically. Therefore, Ultimate has a clear standard defined for a competition disc. That is, it must be a 175 gram Ultra-Star. UE recommends Discraft Inc discs.
